JPEG Images submitted into the Challenge should be sized at 1440 pixels
on their longest side.
To make administering the contest easier, photos should be renamed with the submitter's name.
Instructions for Mac users:
Resizing
- Take your image to your desktop.
- Click to open the image and Preview will appear as the top menu.
- Click on Tools and a drop down menu will appear
- Click on adjust size
- Fit Into – should be Custom
- Width and Height can be changed according to your image depending on orientation.
Only change the longest side to 1440
- Be sure pixels are chosen to the right of Width and Height
- Resolution should be at least 150
- Make sure Scale Proportionally and Resample image are clicked with a check
- When you close your image hit save
Renaming with your name
- Click on the File name under the image and it will turn bright blue.
- Click on it again and it will turn light blue.
- Delete the camera file name and type in only your first and last name leaving the .JPG or .JPEG suffix.
- Then take the cursor off the naming box and click so that your name shows now as the file name.
- All images should be submitted in .JPG or .JPEG format.
Instructions for PC users:
Resizing/Renaming
- On the keyboard, hold down the Windows Key (between ALT and CTRL to the left of the space bar) and press the letter 'e'.
This will open the File Explorer window.
- Use the list of folders on the left or the icons in the main window and navigate to the folder where your photo is stored.
- Right-click on the icon or name for your photo. This opens a menu. Scroll down to "Open with" and click "Paint".
- On the menu at the top-left of the screen, select "Home".
- Click "Resize", then click "Pixels"
- Change the larger dimension to 1440 and click "OK".
- On the menu at the top-left of the screen, click "File", then "Save as", then "JPEG picture".
- A save box will open. Rename your photo with your name and keep the .JPG extension, click "Save".
